With my background in the wine industry, I first conceived of Tempranillo as a blended wine in the style of the Spanish river valley wines (Rioja, Duero). These wines often favor a 60-70% Tempranillo base and we blend with Cabernet as in common in the Ribera del Duero. We produce these grapes at almost 4000' elevation in the desert, where we achieve hangtimes into late September and early October.
